About this event

Please join us for a virtual information session. You will learn more about The Florida Guardian ad Litem Office, volunteer opportunities available, and how to become a volunteer with our Office. The Florida Guardian ad Litem Office represents Florida's abused, abandoned, and neglected children in court and the community. Through the collaboration of a national best practice multidisciplinary team that always includes a Guardian ad Litem Attorney, a child welfare professional and hopefully a trained volunteer or pro bono attorney from the child's community if one is available, the team provides high-quality, independent, legal representation while assisting the child in expressing their needs and wishes. Our unique approach allows us to support the whole child, addressing their physical, educational, mental, emotional, social, and legal needs.

By volunteering with the Florida Guardian ad Litem Office, with your time, you support the children we represent, helping children who end up in foster care and the dependency court system through no fault of their own. Our volunteers dedicate their time, passion, and skills, often becoming the child's role model, mentor, educational surrogate, friend, confidant, and, most importantly, a consistent, caring person the child can rely on.

It only takes two to three hours per week to volunteer with us. We conduct in-person visits with the children. The time commitment hours are flexible since you can adapt the time you dedicate to your case to your availability. However, it is a long-term commitment. We ask our volunteers to stay on the child's case until it closes or the mentorship relationship mutually ends.

Note: Eventbrite will email you the Zoom link once you have registered for a session.
